Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving started out just right.  Darren went to play flag football and I stayed in my pj's.  I did run down to the field just in time to see him intercept the ball from the other team.   Seems like he's good at everything.  Ok, he is good at everything.

We were in charge of bringing potatoes to the Greenhalgh feast and my awesome husband did all the cooking and cleaning.  What a lucky girl am I!
This is what I did...

Awesome!

Gillian made a Thanksgiving pin-the-feathers-on-the-turkey game.  Tomorrow she said she will make a put-the-presents-in-santa's-bag game.  She's very into the Holiday season.  I love it.

So then it was off to the Greenhalgh feast that could have fed a small country.  I always end up eating way too much even though I promise myself I won't.  Couldn't resist snapping a picture of Gill when she fell asleep with the flowers on the way to grandma's.

Auntie Joelle only has a couple of inches on Gavin.  Holy cow he's getting big!  Although she isn't that tall, but still.

All in all a great day.  I have so so so much to be thankful for!

sidewalk chalk and sardines

One of those rare sunny days where after school Gillian could go outside and do sidewalk chalk. And she loves her new pink hat mom brought her from Huntington Beach.  Except now she insists on wearing a pink shirt every day to match with her new hat.  She doesn't have that many pink shirts, but she does have a few.

So for Family Home Evening activity the kids wanted to play "sardines".  It's where one person hides and the rest of the people have to go find that person.  As soon as someone finds them they quietly hide with them in that same spot until everyone finds them.  One time nobody could find Drew.  I was convinced after 20 minutes that she had left the house until I noticed that I was the only one left looking.  Finally I found my entire family behind the TV armoire.  I was also the last one to find everyone behind the kitchen curtain last night.  We are running out of hiding spots.

Lava Lamp

It all started because Gillian needed a new dresser.  I told her I would buy her one and she got very excited.  I happened upon an excellent deal on a chest of drawers that was kind of a cream color and when I got it home I realized that it would go much better in Drew's room.  Of course this didn't go over very well with Gill so I told her I would try it in her room first.  I waited until they left for school and I did move it to Gillian's room, but I knew it would really be best to switch with Drew's set of drawers.  After 3 hours of moving things around and putting clothes away I was quite proud of myself.  I sent Darren an e-mail telling him to say a prayer for me because I knew that I would have to deal with the Gillian firestorm.  However, in my vast wisdom I had gotten her a lava lamp for her room to hopefully reign in her temper tantrum.  And have a tantrum she did,  she really throws a quality tantrum.  Then, I gave her her very own lava lamp (pink) and she stopped crying, took it, ran upstairs to plug it in, and voila, peace.  I love lava lamps (and peace).
